As of December 15th, I am the proud owner of an MA in History!
I survived grad school. I'm glad I went, despite the pain and suffering. But now what? I can't sit around playing computer games for the rest of my life? I have to eat (at least occasionally). Of course, the next step is to get a job. Certain family members, proud of the fact that I could now officially teach history at the college level began scouring Craigslist and the local newspaper for positions.
Yeah, okay. I let them do it for a few weeks before breaking it to them that one does not usually find a job in higher education on Craigslist or in the local paper. So, where does one look? Good question!
Job search resources that I have been poking around on:
HigherEdJobs.com
Adjunct Professor Online
Additionally, many states will have a resource of some sort that lists community and junior colleges, such as Utah Community College Jobs.
H-Net is also a valuable source for information, and they offer lists for adjuncts as well as grad students.
I'm sure there are others out there, as well.
